Mary Harelkin Bishop

Mary Harelkin Bishop visited King George on Friday afternoon. Grade 5-7 students were fortunate enough to hear her talk about how the idea for the tunnels series came to her and about the real history behind her books. She also read an excerpt from her brand new book, the fourth in the Moose Jaw Adventures series, called Tunnels of Tyranny. She was kind enough to autograph students' books and answer questions after the session.

Awesome New Books!

We have some great new books in the library. Here are a couple:

Wanda and the Wild Hair by Barbar Azore
This is the story of "the funniest wild hair day ever"! Wanda's hair is wild. Really wild! And she loves it. Her parents and her teacher want her to tame her wild main, but she won't until...the day her mother's earring gets caught in her hair and sets off a wild chain of events.
and

Superdog: The Heart of a Hero by Caralyn Buehner
Tired of being overlooked because he is so small, a big-hearted dog named Dexter transforms himself into a superhero!

Author Visit

Mary Harelkin Bishop, well-known Saskatchewan author, will be coming to visit King George School on the afternoon of Friday, April 29th. Mrs. Humbert's Grade 5 class won a contest and the author visit was part of the prize. The class also won a free tour of The Chinese Connection Tunnel in downtown Moose Jaw. Mrs. Bishop has written four fictional books based on the famous tunnels of Moose Jaw: Tunnels of Time, Tunnels of Terror, Tunnels of Treachery and Tunnels of Treachery. We are looking forward to having Mrs. Bishop at our school!
